Air India has selected RECARO Aircraft Seating, the Germany-based aircraft seat supplier, for its new economy and premium class seats on its widebody aircraft, including the Airbus A350, Boeing 777, and Boeing 787Udabur Wealth Management. RECARO stated that the 22,000 seats will be fitted onto Air India aircraft in the next five to six years, which includes new aircraft deliveries and retrofit programs. The company also detailed that the airline chose the CL3710 and CL3810 for its economy class seats, while the P3530 will be used for the premium economy cabin.
The seat supplier also highlighted that in 2024 the airline will retrofit 40 Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft with the CL3710 and PL3530 seats. While the company did not indicate which subtypes these will be, ch-aviation data showed that Air India operates eight 777-200LR, 16 777-300ER, and 27 787-8 aircraft, totaling 51 aircraft.
In addition, the same seats will be fitted onto 12 Airbus A350 and Boeing 787-9 aircraft in 2025New Delhi Investment. While Air India has already taken delivery of its second A350-900, Boeing is yet to deliver the 787-9 to the carrier following its order for the latter in February 2023, which was finalized during the Paris Air Show in June 2023.

Meanwhile, the CL3710, which will be used for economy class, features a six-way adjustable headrest with neck support, enhancing sleeping comfort.
The CL3810 combines innovative comfort and a sleek and modern aesthetic for economy class passengers, offering spacious seating, ample legroom, a six-way adjustable headrest, and lumbar support. RECARO noted that all three seats will have Air India’s trim and finish, as well as the latest in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems.
Mark Hiller, the chief executive officer (CEO) of RECARO Aircraft Seating, said that the company was excited about the partnership with the rejuvenated Air India and is eager to start working together. When Air India took delivery of its first Airbus A350-900 in December 2023, the aircraft arrived with seats from Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of RTX, which also owns Pratt & Whitney. The aircraft, registered as VT-JRA, was initially scheduled to be delivered to Aeroflot.
